Beetroot Maca Latte

Beetroot Maca Latte Vertical

Ricetta in Italiano di seguito.

You guys! I haven’t been on here in ages! Truth be told I’ve been busy being a mama and a student and I’ve been rethinking this space A LOT!  Now that I’m close to completing my Holistic Nutrition program, I’ve got so many plans which include a relaunch of this space, to better represent where I am these days.  Not that it’s all that far from where I’ve been here, but I’ve grown and morphed and blossomed in many ways if you will.  So, I want that to come through here.  I also want this website to feature all the holisitic nutrition services I’ll be offering and I want to make it billingual since I do live in Italy after all and want the local market to benefit from everything I have up my sleeve.  It’s a big job, but I’m so up for the challenge and I can’t wait to make it come to fruition.  In the meantime, you can find me over on Instagram if you feel so inclined to follow along.  I can’t promise you’ll see much action around here, but I do want to post that chestnut pancake recipe I’ve teased about on Instragram and that so many of you have asked for.

Until then, I want to leave you with this recipe that is so deserving of it’s own post that I couldn’t bear to let it slip.  Not a lot of photo action here, because honestly I just don’t have time for an elaborate photo shoot but I wanted to get this Beetroot Maca Latte out there for the world to enjoy.

Unlike other beetroot lattes I’ve seen which rely on beetroot powder, this one actually contains beets which makes it thick and creamy and all sorts of sweet without the need for any added sugar.  Yes, you read that right. NO ADDED SUGAR! Like NONE, NADA, ZILCH!  Not even a drop of maple syrup.

Dropping mad beets!

Beets are one of many of nature’s gifts to man and it’s no accident that they happen to be red.  They actually tone the blood and help build blood cells, have a cleansing effect on the liver and aid digestion all while helping to combat anemia.  Ain’t mother nature one clever lady?

While they may be high on the glycemic index with a rating of 64 (glucose is 100), their glycemic load is actually very low which means they have a negligible effect on blood sugar. You would have to eat 8 cups of beets in one sitting to effect your blood sugar levels, which is highly unlikely.  On the flip side they’re rich in fiber, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds and support the liver detoxification process.  They are also good source of folate and manganese which are essential nutrients for the human body.  So just beet it!
